Uncovering the region's leading tourism experiences and identifying gaps across capability and experience development.
Destination Central West (DNCW) partnered with tourism consultancy The Tourism Collective to undertake an Experience Audit and Gap Analysis for the Central West Region of NSW.
This project uncovered the region's leading tourism experiences, and enabled DNCW to better understand their ability to deliver on the destination’s visitor promise and meet the needs of the future traveller.
The project provided insight and context for DNCW to support the implementation of the region-wide initiatives outlined in the region’s Destination Management Plan 2030.
The project also supported Councils within the region to identify gaps at a local level and determine activations to deliver relevant local capability and experience development initiatives.
This database will be used by DNCW to engage with specific tourism businesses in the region across experience development, capability and investment initiatives (as per the Region’s DMP). Local Government can also utilise this database (and maintain it) to inform gaps across capability and experience development at a local level, and across all experiences.
This report provides insight as to where there are gaps relating to content on visitnsw.com and provide recommendations for updating the content to better align with the Experience Strengths and key tourism experiences as identified in the DNCW Experience Database.
The Framework can be used by DNCW and Local Government to work individually with businesses to identify gaps and provide mentoring to address gaps. The Framework will also be designed to be used as a 'Self-Assessment' tool for businesses in the region to self-diagnose gaps and seek support to address gaps.
